What's a private alternative to Rize?
If you like the idea of an automatic tracker like Rize but you are not comfortable with your activity being processed in the cloud, Mark is the local-first option. It runs entirely on your Mac. Your app and window activity never leaves the device, the categorization happens on your machine, and there is no account on a server somewhere watching your day.
The privacy difference is the obvious one. There is a deeper one underneath it.
Same automatic tracking, a different question
Rize is built to score your productivity and account for your billable time. I am built around a single question: in the morning you declare the one thing that would make today count, and at the end I tell you whether you actually did it. Less a productivity dashboard, more a focus coach that happens to keep quiet about your data.
To be fair to Rize, it is a genuinely capable tool, and if cloud AI categorization and billable-hours reporting are what you want, it does that well. But if what you want is to protect your attention and your privacy at the same time, that is the gap I was built for. Nothing about your day has to leave your Mac for me to be useful.
